Accessibility and Services

The University Arena was specifically designed to be accessible by all and as such, all areas of the venue are accessible to wheelchair users and those with visual or hearing impairments. If you have any specific requirements or questions about our accessibility or services please email our Arena Reception Team - arenareception@worc.ac.uk  to discuss your enquiry.

Personal Assistants / Carers

Visiting spectators who are accompanied by a carer can claim a complimentary carer ticket for the event (some external events policies may differ, please contact the Arena/ specific event for more information).

Attending an Event?

All of our events provide wheelchair accessible viewing. These spaces are not reserved, allowing you to pick the best view available. We have seats on standby for your PA/Carer and if you're bringing friends/family, we are more than happy to seat your guests with you. Contact one of our friendly stewards (wearing bright blue polo shirts) and they'll show you to the viewing area. 

Assistance Dogs

Assistance dogs are welcome at the University Arena, but we do not recommend you bring Assistance Dogs to events where noise levels are high.

Hearing Impairments

Induction loop audio systems are fitted in the following locations

  • Visitors Reception
  • Main Arena Hall
  • Joel Richards Conference
  • Open Corridor/Informal viewing area

Please contact 01905 544444 to be directed to the appropriate team, if you require assistance regarding a hearing loop.

Customers with Medical Requirements

Should you need to bring medicines, medical equipment or food or drink to manage a medical condition, please don't worry, this will be fine. If you require additional information, please email arenaevents@worc.ac.uk and we can assist with your enquiry. 

Toilets

The University Arena has numerous accessible toilets which are available on both the ground and first floor and are clearly signposted throughout the building. 

We also have fully accessible changing rooms and toilets on the ground floor which are larger than a standard wheelchair accessible toilet and includes a height-adjustable changing bench, hoists (can be requested) and room for up to two PAs/carers.

Accessible Changing Facilities

The University Arena's has six large changing facilities that are all accessible by wheelchairs. We also have three private individual changing facilities for those who like a little privacy.

The University recognise that many of our clients with disabilities and their assistants are highly trained and experienced in hoist use, however our equipment may differ from what is normally utilised. An access/egress appraisal will be undertaken for clients, or guests, whose disability necessitates use of a mobile hoist. Staff will complete the form demonstrating due care and sensitivity for the client involved. Hoists available: Invacare Birdie. All hoist users will be issued with the University of Worcester Arena Hoist Usage Policy. To request a copy, please contact the arena reception via arenareception@worc.ac.uk or 01905 544444.

Baby Facilities

Baby change facilities are available in the arena toilets located in the arena ground and first floor foyers.

Lockers

There are lockers available for public use adjacent to main hall when events are on. Visitors can store their belongings by requesting an access card from the arena reception. Please note, overnight storage is not available and all lockers are emptied by security staff prior to venue closing.

Lost Property

Once the event is over, all lost property is moved to the security office. You can call +44 (0) 1905 544 444 for lost property queries.

Arena Reception

The University Arena Reception is open from 7am until close of business and can offer a wide range of services.

Getting to the Arena and Car Parking

The Arena has a dedicated car park with 286 spaces, including 27 accessible spaces. The car park can be accessed via the Arena entrance on Hylton Road where spectators can park for £4.00 per car, per day. In the event this car park is full, visitors are advised to park in the nearby University of Worcester car park or City Council Car Parks.  

Food and Drink

The arena has vending machines on site selling soft drinks and snacks at all times the building is open. During events there will be a Café on site for you to purchase various items which may include; hot and cold drinks, sandwiches, pastries and hot snacks such as hotdogs. Food and drink is not permitted into the Arena at any time.
